Engine oil capacity and new sump washer needed?
kirkynut wrote: Don't skimp on oil or filter quality. £15 might seem like good value for a oil and a filter but there's some absolute rubbish out there. The situation with cheap poor pattern parts is getting a bit bad now with Eurocarparts pumping stuff out so cheaply (not all of it good) that to stay in business and compete, motor factors have to get super cheap parts in stock that are poor.
I don't know what brand oil and filter you have so you might just have got a bargain.
Filters can fail by the valve sticking shut, starving the engine of oil. Poor quality oil just doesn't clean the engine like it should.
I get my oil from Halfords or if a motor factor use a well known brand.
I would like to encourage you to support your local motor factor or they will become a thing of the past along with Woolworths and Jessops! Just ask for Framm or Cooper or ADL filters and a well known brand of oil.
If that's what you've got for £15 I want their address!
Spark plugs go for 60k miles so are worth the extra money. You can get cheaper but they need changing more often so it's a false economy.

Thanks for the reply mate. The oil was comma (branded as something else- will have to check when I'm home. £12 for five litres and the filter was blueprint for £2.50 or so. CPA in Eastbourne, really good company to deal with!
