Idle up switch or hand throttle ? was created by GraphicX
hey guys
i'd like to be able to increase my jimny's idle speed when placing load on the battery.

i can think of a couple of ways to do it, one would be a hand throttle using a cable to the throttle body, but another 'might' be to somehow change the idle with a simple switch the same way the ECU ups the idle speed when it warms up.

does any one know if it's possible to use a switch to increase idle speed ? if so, where would i be needing to wire up to etc ? thanks.

There is an ecu input for the aircon clutch engaged which should give a faster idle.

From my diagrams it might be ECU pin 16 green&white, looks like you earth it out to get something to happen, or it might just fry the ECU  , I could do with an ECU pinout diagram, rather than the strange Suzuki wiring diagram to be sure.

TBH, a choke cable with a bit of fettling around the throttle valve would be safer.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

I have that as standard on my Pajero and I fitted something similar to my Pinin using a choke cable and a coupling on the end of the throttle cable where it meets the pedal arm.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationthanks guys, i've had my eye on this hand throttle for a little while:

i just wasn't sure about how to go about attaching it. i did look at the throttle body in the hope of there being a place to attach it there, but i can only see crimping it to the throttle cable which i wasn't keen on.

so do you think my best bet would be to somehow attach it to my accelerator pedal john ?

It's sort of up to you but I made up a link which slotted around the end of the throttle cable at the top of the Pinin's pedal.

I bought a choke cable off eBay (eBay item number:391035065658) and tailored the coupling to suit the choke cable end fitting. I had to shorten the cable and so I went for one with a solid inner wire rather than stranded.

Which ECU is it?

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.
