Which hand winch ? And behind the bumper 12v? was created by Grego
Was up Silverdale last week
and realised some kind of winch might be useful.
Cant justify an 12v winch at the moment (a 2" lift needs to come first) and have seen the 2 and 4 tonne hand winches on Ebay.
Is the 2 tonne ok or better with the 4 tonne? and would the 4 tonne fit in the boot(seats down)?
While I'm on the subject, I've seen winches on here that fit neatly behind the front bumper using some kind of bracket, Where can i find details on these?

If you are using your Jimny at off road sites I wouldn't waste money on a hand winch. They have their place but it is on a green lane rather than an off road site.
I would just save for an electric winch.
As for which one there's been many a post and argument on that if you want to do a search but in short, many people are happy with Winchmax Winches for a cheap one but the Rolls Royce is a Goodwinch.
Whatever you get, please get a synthetic rope for safety and don't forget you need shackles and tree straps along with the associated electric modifications.

Was hoping to use for both laning and p'n'p but thanks kirkynut, sound advice as always esp about synthetic rope, noticed alot of people standing very close to cars being winched out useing steel ropes.
