Aquasteel was created by helijohn
A while ago someone recommended Aquasteel. Warm day today so I tried some on a small area of sill, floor and chassis. I have a lot to actually do eventually. The texture reminds me of something I used to use in the past and I hope it isn't Kurust cos I don't like that stuff. But WOW, it seems to really work. It requires two coats and then has to be left for 24 hours if you want to cover it with a paint (I intend to use Hammerite underseal with Waxoyl) that is not water based. Dunno if it will stand the test of time but it is certainly off to a good start.

Hammerite is not what it used to be. They had to change the formula due eu regs. I find the chassis enamel paint Tractol synthetic enamel 329 to be good. I get mine from a firm on the ebay with the ebay tag of smith_and_allan. Their service is second to none and a good price too.(I mentioned Aquasteel in one of the threads)

I have been using Aquasteel a lot in the last few weeks. You can see a little snippet of what I am up against in this picture.

I am not too sure the stuff is coping. Only time will tell.

Looks just like my lads Vitarra and the daughters Jimny. In both the back ends were devoid of any paint and certainly never had any underseal or stone chip, but the middle and front had good coverage! Strange. It is as if the bloke doing the back end at Suzuki could not be ar**ed!

It is surface rust (quite deep in a few places which is about 45% of the metal eaten away) but defo on the underside so I am getting a right daily lathering of rust. It lived at a seaside town for a number of years and it shows.
