Hi,
I have just purchased my first 4x4 a 1999 Suzuki Jimny 16v. I has not been used for the last year. It starts and runs very well but has constant white smoke from the exhaust. The guy I brought it from said that it was a struggle to get it through the emissions test on the last MOT.
I have changed the oil and filter and stuck a can of Redex stop smoke in but its still smoking. There is no white in the oil and the water level is not going down.
Can anyone give advice on what might be causing this, Valve stem seals, worn rings ??
Cheers Colin

Mine smoked on start up an as you drive it hard i did a full rebuild ie piston rings. valve stems and valve stem seals big end bearings. the problem on mine was the holes on the piston skirt behind the oil scraper ring were blocked due to lack of good servicing

Could be a lot of water had got in the exhaust with it standing and you are just boiling it off. Give it a few weeks of hard running before digging deeper I would suggest.
