I would have thought that you would get obvious oil in expansion tank, I did with my l200 but that was a diesel with black oil! Also would a blown head gasket not pressurise the coolant and fill the expansion tank? Dunno really, just throwing in my tuppany worth!

yes I would have thought so too just get the white gunge on radiator cap and around rubber tube in expansion bottle not much either just thought it may be early stages

Best to get it sniff tested first. You can buy the kit but some garages will do it for you at no expense if you are lucky!
