That's how mine started. Best thing to do is get it tested before it gets worse to make sure. I Know a few who have used K-seal in the radiator to cure it early on with no problems or after effects.

I seem to be losing water but no idea where from. Starts and runs, no white smoke except on cold start, header tank level ok, did overheat and bust a rubber pipe ( busted thermostat) fixed that. getting bits of the rubber pipe coming to top of rad, fish them out and give it a partial flush. Then resealed the blanking plate at back of engine in case it was that. not overheating but still seems to be losing water? no drips under car, help!

Nickcroc, are you losing any water? I'm not getting any gunk and oil is clear, is it a similar prob to yours?

Try K-Seal and see what happens if you don't want to strip the engine. Only about £12 from auto factors. Mines too far gone and head cant be skimmed no more so putting in a G16.
