I've only had mine for about 10 months so I might not be the best to answer long term reliability. But before I bought mine, I did the google check to see about common problems. As for my Jimny, I've had to change the kingpin bearings and I've had to rebuild the front brake calipers as some work carried out under the last owner damaged the piston boots letting water in and the rust took hold. I'm still having a few issues with a small amount if binding, but that's another story. Other than that it's flying. When you go look at the the car, check in the boot where the jack is stored for corrosion, behind the front bumper and around the top of the windscreen. Check the front swivels for oil or grease leaks and listen out for the usual engine noises and transmission/diff noises on the test drive. Make sure it goes into 4wd and also crawl underneath and have a good poke around. I'm sure other members could offer you some better advice as to what to look out for.
Cheers

check for any wheel wobble at 30-40 mph - king pin bearings
check for any oil stains on the inside of the tyres - (bearings/seals)
put it in 4wd (in a straight line only) to check the front hubs are locking (flashing 4x4 light)
have a look here
www.bigjimny.com/index.php/information/f...ntly-asked-questions
theres plenty about for sale so don't jump at the first one
happy hunting
