I face mine backwards, knn filter has been spotless and is checked regularly

On the long way round a few years back, the support trucks had snorkels and they turned it around in some dusty desert place and it clogged everything up, the amount of sand in the air box was shocking over such a short time and I'm sure some techy dude from Mitsubishi said it creates some sort of backdraft and to keep it facing forward
