The best way to work out your mpg is fill to the brim. When the pump has cut off for the second time, reset odometer. Drive as far as you want, doesnt really matter so long as it isnt just a few miles. Refil at the same petrol station, and the same pump, and fill till the pump cuts off second time again, this will give you a pretty accurate measure of fuel used. divide iles driven by gallons used and dont forget to adjust for tyres if running over size.
Mine is doing between 27 and 30 depending on type of trip, dual carriageway at 70 is worst, laning abit better, normal driving is best mpg

First tank in a new (tight) engine. 292.5 miles, 34.86 litres. That's quite a creditable 38.1mpg considering that the engine isn't run in (it should improve by about 2mpg if it's like other Japanese engines) and I did quite a lot of short runs into town and to the tip, as I've just moved house. The rest of it was very mixed driving, but certainly not economy-minded. Because the engine is running in I am changing up earlier and using wide throttle openings - without labouring the engine - as the higher cylinder pressure beds in the rings properly.

I'm quite impressed.

Sounds very good but without knowing what you paid for the fuel and exactly how many litres you used it's useless!
My guess is you used a lot more than you put in because, assuming you paid £1.30/litre, that works out at 49mpg

Sorry for gloating. I have a LPG converted 2005 VVT. I used to get 210 miles for £23 (@70p a litre of LPG) with the Bridgestone Dueller tyres. Didn't think the Coopers would make that much difference as they are mainly road tyres but with deeper tread. Still not too bad!

No the pressures are about right (maybe an extra 1 psi or so). The weather has been relatively warm, which helps with reducing the time spent running rich from cold, and Suzuki put 0W20 oil in them these days which is probably worth a couple of mpg. Personally I think that's a bit thin for good engine protection and will probably go to 0W30 when it's out of warranty.
