Leaking oil/grease from the front hub seals?? was created by Kieran678
I have a leaking oil/grease from the front hub seals? (large chrome balls behind front wheels) What is the solution to this problem, is it the kingpin or is it the hub seals or both?? thanks

If you have no play in the wheel when rocked (jack up, hold wheel at 12 oclock and 6 oclock) then it is more than likely the seal, I have the same problem but if you are stripping down I would change kingpins at same time. Just a question but have you been through any deep water recently? I have known axle casing to get full of water and this can result a black/grey goo being extruded out of seal.

The hub seals are not seals they are really just dust/dirt seals. If oil is coming out then something has upset the inner axle oil seal. This is usually the kingpin bearings or wheel bearing but could be a CV or bent shaft. Kingpin bearings sometimes rust solid so do not wobble, you need to take it apart to look. And if you have chrome balls then it's a deluxe jimny as everyone else's are painted black

Thanks for your help. Your comments will be passed onto the garage as the car is still under warranty.
