JAGM wrote: This is probably a silly question - but here goes anyway. If the standard hubs that come on a Jimny can be manually locked by taking the cover off the hub and locking them manually, why not do that and select the 4WD through the transfer box as normal? Does this not negate the need to buy and install new manual hubs, or am I missing something here??
Thanks!

There's no such thing as a silly question, just a silly person asking it

That's exactly what I was thinking myself this morning... I've not found anything in any of my research that would suggest this is likely to cause issues. If this is indeed correct then I'm not going to bother with the manual hubs, just keep the auto hubs locked and use the transfer box to change between 2 and 4WD.

So - why not just retain the original hubs???? Some people on this forum have stated that they do not notice any increase in petrol consumption when everything is turning!!
