If your looking to track your driving along a lane using GPS I use the Google My Tracks app on my Samsung S2. You can then upload the KML files to a Google map and overlay the results.
I am building a green lane map of Surrey, here: maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=202622825...pn=0.125882,0.338173
Most are still straight lines that I have drawn but the lane from Westcott to Holmwood (Wolvens Lane) has been tracked using My Tracks and the KML file uploaded (Eventually I will track all the lanes
). You can see its a bit squiggly!
It also records your average speed, altitude etc. and includes it in the KML file, so the data appears in the map pins if you click on them on the map. The beauty of this being on Google maps is I can then get accurate directions to a lane if I ever forget how to get there!

I'm sure most of you already know of this site but just In case.
bywaymap.com
I cannot comment on how accurate the statuses of the lanes are, or how up to date it is, I've only had the chance to follow a few of the lanes.
Excuse me being off topic, just thought it might shed light on a few lanes that could be added to the maps
