I've seen some with the one end wrapped around the actual filler nozzle so I'm thinking long cable tie! It's too hot out there to play at the moment.

I reckon a few inches of bog flush chain and a nut and bolt or to would do you fine.

First I popped the top off the cap to see if it had any venting as I didn't want to mess with that. You can see the venting is done to the perimter of the top of the cap. The centre of the cap top is nicely reinforced and ideally strong enough for a screw, 2mm drill and screw.




I took a length of petrol resistant rubber off a sheet, shaped it to attach to the flap and the cap, loosely on the cap. Violá

Looks spot on! Easy fix and most probably a damn site more durable than the brittle plastic cord on mine!
