I've been trialling my Jimny for a couple of years now and I don't think the tow bar has ever grounded, it's so close to the axle. Not sure what make it is but same style as the tow trust.

On the 8th Day God made the LandRover -
On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.

Thanks all, some food for thought there.

What do people think of the original factory fit Suzuki towbars? Possibly been offered one on here!

I recently bought and fitted a Tow-trust towbar.

It is easy to fit and you definitely DO NOT have to remove the bumper! That alone was worth the extra £20 over some of the others on ebay. It came with instructions specific to the Jimny which were straighforward.

It does sit below the bumper so will affect your departure angle if you do serious offroading. At the same time, it's a chunky bit of steel so it's not going to get hurt if you do bash it on things occasionally. I'm normally towing a trailer when I'm offroad, so this hasn't affected my vehicle ability.

It came with 7 pin electrics that mount on a bracket beside the hitch, but I've since mounted the socket in the number plate recess to make removing the hitch easier (just 2 m10 bolts and it's off, no cables).

Here's a pic!

We tend to use the Hayman Reese Tow Hitch in Australia. The hitch is easily removed from the towbar with the removal of the pin, which can be locked to prevent theft. Assists with rear clearance. They are available in 40mm x 40mm or 50mm x 50mm. The hitch can be replaced with a winch-mount cradle and can be used in front and rear applications so that is very handy, especially as it means you only need to carry the winch when going "Bush".

The white part in the photo is the Hitch, mine has the locking pin which is strong enough to use as a tow-point for recovery. This assembly is rated at 2200kgs, far in excess of the Jimny ability to tow. :)
