Assists with rear clearance. They are available in 40mm x 40mm or 50mm x 50mm. The hitch can be replaced with a winch-mount cradle and can be used in front and rear applications so that is very handy, especially as it means you only need to carry the winch when going "Bush".

The white part in the photo is the Hitch, mine has the locking pin which is strong enough to use as a tow-point for recovery. This assembly is rated at 2200kgs, far in excess of the Jimny ability to tow. :)

Sadly not used in the UK.

You can get the Reese hitch type towbars for some vehicles in the uk; We have one on a Range Rover. They're not common though, and I've never seen one on a Jimny.

Hi Busta,
Did you also manage to do the electrics without removing the rear seat and side panel?

No I took the panel out, which was a bit of a faff but necessary to have the indicator buzzer inside the car and keep the scotchlock connectors dry (they are notorious for causing trouble if they are exposed to water and salt). It wasn't difficult, just took a bit of time.

If you look under the back left corner of the car there is a big square grommet. Pop it out and it gives you access to the other grommet which enters the car behind the side panel. That's the route I took anyway- all concealed, all water tight and no new holes in the bodywork.

I used the wiring guide from the 'information' part of this site which was a great help, but I found the side light wire was red and white, not solid red as the guide suggested.
