a non jimny wide is designed as a kei car - this is a class of cars in Japan that have to be no longer than 3.4m and no wider than 1.48m and have an engine no bigger than 660cc and no more than 63 bhp

In Japan they have lower tax and insurance and do not need a registered parking space before you can buy one

They were then fitted with wide axles, arches and a bigger engine to sell elsewhere in the world
