new owner! was created by Rodden87
Hello guys

I'm happy to say I'm now a proud owner of a lovely W reg green jimny, I'm not totally new to this as I've owned vits before.
my little machine had it's first days laning yesterday and I was quite surprised how well I got on with few mods, at the moment it's sporting a 3" spring lift, new transfer box mounts, snorkel, trimmed arches and a set of 215/80/15 malatesta tracs.
The only thing I noticed on sunday was a little lack of clearance under my axles compared to the landy's I went out with so my big question is what tyre sizes are people running and with what success?
I'm thinking about 31/10.5/15 but these are the biggest I want to go is there a metric size people use around close to it?
From the days of vit owning I'm more than aware about transfer ratio and the bigger the tyre the low it needs to be (I am planing an sj box but not for a few months).
And finally are there any other vits owners in dorset around the Blandford area that fancy a weekends play? and some experience sharing!

Thanks Andy

Hi Andy - Welcome to BigJimny :)

Ground clearance and Traction is what its all about.

I run my Green Jimny (see me on my YouTube Channel RocketMav) on 16" Steel GV Rims and then add to that some good tall and narrow 16x205 LR Tyres (they are about 32" in diameter) which gives me about 11inches of clearance under my front and rear diffs.

To get those Wheels and Tyres on my Jimny, I have a 3" Rhino Ray Spring Lift, not forgetting extended braided Brake Hoses and seriously cut-back arches.

With the larger wheels/tyres you'll notice gearing (on and off-road) is all to pot, so I have a Rob Storr 6:1 SJ Transfer Box and custom Propshafts.

To get the best and cheapest traction i have a PowerTrax Lockrite in my rear diff (as sold by BigJimny)

Finally, to correct the horrid steering with the Lift, I have the Dog's B's of Caster Corrected Radius Arms supplied by D&G Tuning.

Good luck, but most of all have fun - these little Jimny's go anywhere!!

Hi and welcome!

I run 215/80/15 malatesta kaimans and I have equal ground clearance to my mates 90 on his 33's which I think is plenty for laning.

I have a rockwatt 4.1 rocklobster and I'm just about right I fancy. I also have a 3" lift.

I think you're about right on tyres and suspension and would be best spending on a difflock of some description.
