Markyp2000. I would try some Locktite stud and bearing retainer - probably will hold it in place without any problem. As regards the bearings, I changed one yesterday and the bottom bearing was badly damaged and bent, and the seat came out in 2 pieces. There was oil leaking from the big seal which drew my attention to it, but equally there was no play in the hub at all. There was a small amount of wheel wobble which did make me suspicious.

When I put a replacement front axle on mine the kingpins in it were seized and the bearings really rusty but I drove it like that for a few weeks before getting the time to change the wheel bearings and kingpin bearings. I had no wobble despite all the rust but they were in one piece!

I empathise about changing the axle on the floor on your own!

Why did you have to do it in the first place though? I don't remember reading of you telling us, but I do miss things!
