I am not sure why the picture sizing problem has returned, I will look into that.
The "Internal Server Error" problem that has re-appeared in the last few days is usually a sign that a hacking attempt is in progress. I guess one of my sites on this server is being hit and at some point soon it will all fail. This is what usually happens

They achieve two things.
1. They can plant links to their sites (ie. porn etc.)
2. They can dilute spam detectors so they can achieve point 1.
This dilution effect can be seen by them posting seemingly large posts full of rubbish. Once these beat the system and get published this introduces lists of words that are "approved", the more and more they do this the higher the approval rating for the words so that the spam detectors no longer delete the mails and then they can post their spam links.
There is a 3rd reason, they can quietly infect a server and the users accessing it to create a bot network which then enables them to instigate a large attack on a government etc. However they tend to try this quiet hacking rather than by posting spam into forums
