No, I wouldn't buy it either. But here's a loaded question almost guaranteed to get quite a few responses.

Are the mechanical components on a new Jimny any better than on the CO's 2005 O2?!

Discuss. B)

Thanks for that response Reaper, but I actually meant the construction parts of the Jimny. Not wear and tear.

Did Suzuki actually improve/strengthen anything over the years?

From everything i have read and heard... the whole car is exactly the same... except for cosmetics bits (Bumper, Bonnet/Grill, and front wings)

Except these are all Japanese built... whereas the old Soft Top Jimny' are all Spanish built and many people believe them to be lacking in build quality.

I've noticed that in some photos the 'recovery points' have been changed to something even more flimsy

Thanks for that Adam. It's a shame that Suzuki didn't take on board some of the concerns/issues raised by Jimny owners over the years. King pin bearings, steering wobble, boot rust, swivel joint weep, etc.

Suzuki probably thought we shouldn't expect too much for what it costs. Except I believe the new price dictates that some of these issues should have been resolved.
