MOT Fail! - Brake Lines! :( was created by Licksan
Just failed MOT for corroded brake lines. The two that run down the chassis rails. Problem is toward the back.

Question is how much brake pipe do I need to replace ALL the solid pipe work on the jimny and what connectors are required. i.e size, type

Gonna use the non rusting copper nickel stuff.

Not looking forward to it in this weather!

If I were you I would look at your fuel lines whilst your under the car. If they're dubious do them at the same time.

The unions are metric M10x1 (male). Halfrauds do them. You will also need double flare ends on the lines.

Id clean them up see how bad the sreel pipe is ie pitted then paint them after the tester has seen them

Or take the pipes off take them to a garage and ask them to make some new ones upand then refit

Are all the unions male? Any idea how many I need?

Not fancying crawling under my car in this weather so if someone knows or has a nice warm garage and fancies a crawl under it would be much appreciated!

Marky, I know my tester well and he wouldn't fob me off so if he's not happy with the std steel ones I am sure they will be past it.

Got the bending a flaring tools to make brake lines just need an idea of how many unions and which type and how much pipe I will need. Is 25ft likely to be enough?

I got away with not having to do the front to back lines, but when I rebuilt the rear axle lines, the rear flexi hose to distributer line and one of the front caliper to distributer lines they were all male. I would hazard a guess you need about 10. They are cheap enough so maybe buy a couple of packs.
