I want to buy à 2005 jimny but there is à slightly problem.
When changing from 2w to 4w drive, everything Seems to function allright.
But while driving changing from 4w to 2w, i hear à loud bang from under the Car as if the 4w drive is released with many forces.
Is that à normal situation?

My 04 with a manual lever goes with a thud occasionally

Could be called a bang I suppose

My 2005 with a manual lever makes a reassuring subdued clonk, but no bang.

For the configuration of jimny 4WD (rigid connection between the front and rear axles), this should not be used on hard surfaces, Otherwise, the difference between the two axes of rotation produces a twist angle in the propeller shafts, universal joints and shafts.

This twist angle produces an accumulation of energy in materials, which is released when disengaging the 4wd, This energy is transforming into a metallic noise "clanck"

I suggest testing the 4WD on sand, mud or soft ground

The use of 4WD on hard surfaces, damages severely the transmission

I was just going to ask that. Are you using 4wd on tarmac i.e. normal roads?? If so do not do it. Only off road or slippy surfaces.
Is it a manual lever or push button as this is the year they changed over?

I started off high and worked my way down ever since :-)
