Also Dave Bowyer has offered the Goodwinch @ show's before for the same money without rope. I no nothing about the 8274 so can't comment on that puppy.

Both winches are great.
But where the 8274 excels is in speed (obvious) but also it's very easy to do service on. And very easy to upgrade and get uprated spares for. Probably because of the somewhat outdated design.

I have both, and really like them.
