G wagon Diff lock actuators was created by Dave cc
Finshed this off tonite have taken the rather rubbish Vacum over oil Hydraulic sytem Mercs use and replaced it with a 32mm bore air cylinder what is good about the Merc system is it does have a switch to show when the Diff Lock is actually engaged and not like many that illuminates a light to say it has only been actuated and not actually moved into locked position

Dave, where in the UK are you? I need to see this beast in the flesh, you going to Donnington in Feb?
Whats the advantage's of going G wagon axles over say the Yota's? Lighter, cheaper, better diff clearance?

On the 9th day he swapped it for a Jimny.

I guess the advantage is locking diffs in both as standard?

Not sure if Yota better than Merc axles its all got a bit mad with what ive built
They are 4.99:1 4 pin diffs Dana style axles with front and rear diff locks to honest there bomb proof friggin axle tubes are 7mm thick.
Didnt fancy the Merc steering arms so built myself Hi steer so tucked up out of the way
Plus they are cheap when the come up as front axle runs backwards in the merc contra rotating propshafts so milled out the welds pressed it apart fliped the diff and pressed it back together and re welded it took me a day and a bit 1st time i did one.
There good for 300hp so im lead to beleive i picked up 2 pairs for £400 one set are in my truck others im building portal gearboxes for like a Mog so will give me another 4 inches of lift and loads of clearance under my diff not to mention they will howl like a banshee with the straight cut spur gears in the outer hubs.
So better or not dunno really end of the day to get landy axles or sothing like that to the same spec as merc axle would cost £1000s and would be far to wide.
So whats the Gig with Donnington and when is it ? might chuck her up on the Brian james and drag her up there behind me bimmer LOL

Get that Jim on the back of the beemer and bring it up!!! Ive got a pair of jimny axles, blasted ready for welding some truss's and KAM lockers, but KAM are taking their time and all this time and cost, keeps giving me ideas to do something else. But my Jimny is 90% road, with the odd pay n play once every few months so G axles maybe overkill.
If you find another pair would you let me know Dave? it would certainly be cheaper in the long run.
Thanks,
Carlton.

Would you mind telling me what air cylinder you used, what stroke length and how did you attach it to the diff lock cylinder...or did you mount at the back and leave it floating?
