well i finaly got round to it fixing a small bit of stainless steel wire to the exhaust it was dooing my head inn , i fitted a new exhaust a couple weeks ago but there must be a slight difference in the new one as it catches the tow bar and rattles its head off , i tried all kinds of things , but in the end a small bit of wire to keep it away from the tow bar did the trick , if i could of got inn about with the small angle grinder i would of nipped a bit off the tow bar , but everything is so tight and close ,

When I put a third party back box on my Gen3 it rattled on the towbar, IIRC, I took the offending flange off the towbar and chopped a piece out to clear the tailpipe. The spares market must have measured wrongly when they copied the original.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

I think I would much sooner modify the exhaust than chop the tow bar. But I do a lot of towing.

Replied by Brendan on topic What did you do to your jimny today
It’s still there, transporters where too expensive so I just pushed it. I’m a AA member but they sent my account setup details to my co-signer rather than me for some benine reason.

Re: Update the reason why they wouldn’t come and get it is because the company I bought it off hasn’t paid the setup fee yet.

We are only talking about a scallop cut from the side flange about 1/8 deep, just enough to stop it rattling. It was one of those Towtrust or Towsure ones with the big side flanges that bolt to a crossbar. I doubt if it weakened it enough to worry about. I suspect that the back of the chassis would break off first.

Ah. Not cutting a huge hole in the side then! Fair enough.
