Received a tray-style roof rack today for the new Jimny, made by a local (South Africa) company called Eezi-Awn. Fitted it myself in about an hour and a half with just a size 13 spanner and an allen key which was provided along with installation instructions.
Took it for a drive including a short freeway stint and it was nice and quiet so I am happy.
The company makes a bunch of accessories like Jerry Can holders etc but for now it will serve as a platform for lockable racks for my surfboards which I also ordered today.

Today I will mostly be eating yoghurt! No sorry not that. I'll be changing the oil and filter and plugs on Ermintrude, 7 months for 9k miles? Seems to have been a quick service interval this time round!

That needs expansion. The previous set of plugs have been in service for 45k miles or one too many intervals and while I have inspected them every service regapping as necessary they have finally eroded the very fine point of the electrode. So having been replaced and in conjunction with the new clean oil I have recovered smoothness that honestly I hadn't realised was lost, there's also an evident reduction in fuel use too. Just goes to show how important it is to keep up with the services!
