Booked in for MOT on Thursday, so tackled the drivers side seatbelt which was very slow to retract. MOT testers over here can be really picky so I didn't want to take the chance!

It's a really fiddly job and it kinda requires three hands, but it can be done! You start by removing the bottom bolt from the belt, then removing the rear trim. There's a screw and a bolt holding the mechanism in place and a fiddly electrical connector. There's also a bolt in the top height adjustor. Once it's out, it's a matter of unwinding it, removing the pin that holds the belt in place, removing the belt, and carefully winding the barrel back a few times to put more tension in the spring. You have to be careful not to let the barrel go when you've the belt removed as it will unwind completely and probably ruin the mechanism! And you have to be careful not to set off the tensioner as it is explosive :silly:

It seems to work well though, it's not as quick to retract as a new car, but it's much improved!

This was a useful video explaining the process.

I have found that cleaning the top loop works wonders for making the belts retract better, it's as if the plastic is a magnet for all the crud as the belt moves over it and it then bungs itself up.

Temeraire (2018 quasar grey automatic)
One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.
Bellerophon (2024 grello van daily
ADOS Attention Deficit Ooooh Shiny!

Took the nice new towbar off the blue scrapper and fitted it to the red soft top, along with the rear bumper!!

What a difference between Japanese built and Spanish built :woohoo:

When I fitted it to the blue Mode, it fitted like a glove, but fitting it to the softie was a different kettle of fish altogether

Things just didn't line up like they should, spent ages drilling little bits out here and there to make it align properly.

Anyway...it's on, and I'm well pleased ;)
