The tax is cheaper: if you get an X plate or earlier.

Don't know what year your Maverick is, but if it is X plate or earlier it is on the £220 a year rate, a jimny pre X plate is £135, Y onwards is £215 (My maverick was a '93- I sold it in about 1999, my jimny is an X plate)

Spares are about the same I think: ridiculously stupidly expensive ;) but Jimny spares can be easier to find, there is the shop here and more of the off road specialists are dealing with them.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

I used to have a Terrano and coming around a wet roundabout with the tail hanging out seemed to scare other vehicles!

I'm saving up for a Terrano at the moment as I don't want another shogun (51 plate was attacked by tin worm) and my big works van/current tow motor is downsizing to a Transit Custom :-) later this year so I need/want a suitable 4x4 for towing the jimny and as a weekend runabout. So are Terrano's any good? Think I will want the 3.0 version.

either the 2.7 or the 3.0 will tow the jimjam

drove a lwb one for a weekend back in the 90s and it wasn't a bad drive, rolled a lot on corners, a shogun or cherokee is a better drive but you get jap reliabillity and no rustproofing ;)

Loved the Shogun 3.2 but it was getting seriously expensive to run, and needed a'lot spending on it, the jimny is just to Uncomfortable for any distance (But I Love it!). Need to save up and pay off my not so clever solar panels first.
