shudder 4x4

I'm new to this so could someone please help,test drived a jimny 04 plate all fine but in the car park when I put it in to 4x4 and tried to turn it strugled to turn,bit shake too,is this the norm? Everything else seams OK,guy took it away to and phoned garage and they said all 4x4s do it? Please advise. 07868629306

you should never put your truck into 4x4 on tarmac... only in mud/snow/ice... If you do it'll do what you have discribed and eventually break...

second that. Only test it on loose ground. It might not have had a problem before but it may now. Maybe research your car choice a bit more, some 4wds are permanent 4wd so are fine on hard surfaces but most that are selectable are so for a reason

If there were no loud bangs followed by the judder disappearing then you should be ok.

There is no central differential on a Jimny so you can ONLY use 4wd when there is something for the wheels to slip on (Ice, Snow,Mud). Strange as it may seem you need slip for the 4wd to work.

Other 4x4s such as Range Rovers, Discoverys and a lot of the "allroad" style vehicles have a central differential which provides a mechanical version of "slip" so they can be left in 4wd all the time.
