Fuel Gauge shows Full Tank - all the time?

You'll have to have a look but from memory as it's too wet for me to be bothered crawling under mine right now, they come from above the tank down the front of it and along the off side of the chassis with the fuel and brake lines and then up into the engine bay and get lost in the loom from there.
I might be wrong as I'm going from memory and not had to fiddle with mine.
My old SJ needed the dash hit every now and then for the fuel gauge to work but that showed empty. This sounds like the float is stuck or it's earthed it's self out somehow.

I got under my Jimjam earlier to check I have no water in my gearbox oil after wading last night on the way home on a flooded road...... well you've got to haven't you, but I've not got a breather pipe on the gearbox due to not being able to get to the breather. All was well but can't be too careful!
Anyway, the wires to the fuel pump and sender come from above the tank down in front of it and join with the speed sensor and 4wd light switch wires under the handbrake and go up into the car through a gromit in the floor behind the handbrake where I assume they join the rest of the loom under the carpet.
So it's a tank out job to change the sender with no access panel under the rear seats I'm aware of.
I think I'd be bashing the dash with crossed fingers as I've removed tanks before and it ain't fun.
Hope this helps.
