I have a very heavily modified SJ413, and I had it as a daily driver for about five or six years, and it didn't feel very bad to drive back then. But owning a Jimny have been my dream for a decade or so, so I have had many years to plan my build in my head. The number one goal for me have always been to maintain on road handling as close to standard as possible, and at the same time make it a highly capable in offroad conditions. And so far, I have managed to do that pretty well! Mine drives almost like it was standard. Steering is a little bit restless because the caster isn't corrected yet, and now that I put the Samurai t-case in, I have some more noise from the gearing but it's very minor and I was expecting a lot more noise, so that was a nice surprise. And all this is one reason I only like to have as little lift as possible, and many people on this forum said it would be impossible to fit 33's on a three inch lift...
But I'm building my truck with experience, and I know what I want it to be like, and I also know consequences of every single mod I do.
You should be proud of what you have created, Mr Smoggy, and go and drive the heck out of it and get used to it, and I'm sure you'll love that little bag of poo after a while!

darthloachie wrote: ours is not the nicest drive on road
has 5" lift, special tracks, rock lobster etc
it rattles, vibrates, creaks, clunks and clangs, rolls on bends ( no anti roll bars) :silly: oh and its slow and noisy
but get it off road and its ace
talking to our local 4x4 specialist he has a simple mantra - if its good offroad it will be sh*t on road and he's owned all sorts of modified 4x4s including SJs, defenders and even an Ibex
so don't worry - just enjoy it off road and drive slowly on road
Darth, whos your local 4x4 specialist - im in Blythe Bridge (not a million miles away) Sorry to high jack thread
Smoggy, thats one beast of a truck, shame its not in black though
