Probably more important to do. Cylinder leakage test, this will 100% eliminate or confirmin head gasket failure . ( there are umpteen different ways a cylinder head gasket can fail)

This for me is important diagnoses .

From what you are describing mate, then no, not in your case. What you are explaining is an external oil leak, coming from an oil way MAYBE from the head area/gasket.

What the diffrance was I was saying before is that the cooling system may be pressurising due to INTERNAL cylinder leaking gasses entering the cooling system, causing engine temp problems.

In your case, I'd advise you to clean of the contaminated area as best as you can, run it and check it hourly, daily , weekly or monthly. A leak has to start somewhere and if you check it often enough, you will be able to identify the source.

Hope this help you out mate,

Steve

I know this is an old thread but I must thank you for posting it. My Jimny O2 has been VERY slow on hills for a while now, a mystery because no errors or alarms ever show. Many mechanics gave up. Someone on this forum suggested it is caused by a blocked catalytic converter. A mechanic in an Italian hill village has replaced the cat with one from a van, now my Jimny hardly notices hills even when running on LPG. It drives like a little sports car now, fantastic to get it driving well again.
THANKS
