solar battery charger was created by grumpy22
Has anyone used one of these to keep their pride and joy topped up and ready to run through the dark winter months?
I don't use my car everyday and want to have it ready to go when I need it. It may be a couple of weeks between runs until the snow comes and I'm thinking of sticking a 12v solar charger on my lockup roof. (no power otherwise)
opinions please

I've got a trickle charger in the garage, it's one of those that monitors the condition etc and keeps the battery spot on.
When I used to have a Delica, it was parked outside on the street. When I went on my jollies for 3 - 4 weeks, I would use a couple of those cheap solar chargers from Maplin.
They used to be approx £20 each but every now and a gain, they put them on offer at £9.
They kept both of the batteries topped up brilliantly.
Because both of the batteries were getting a little tired, i used to keep the panels on the dash connected permanently direct to the batteries. Never had a problem with them.
I would have thought they'd be ideal for you if the vehicle is being left for a couple of weeks at a time.
They are still in Maplin now but at £19.99 at the moment. If you keep an eye on them, subscribe, when they come down again, you'll here by e-mail.

I also have the maplin chargers, I also waited until they were £9.99. I have them on my Jimmy main battery, Jimmy Winch Battery and my boat battery (3 of them). They are great for stopping the natural losses in a battery over time.
They will not charge a battery however, they will only keep it topped up.
