Maybe just a bigger airbox would be a better idea then to stop the heat soak?

If you are fitting a cone filter to a Jimny, make sure it's for on road or very dry off road use only.
The original airbox is carefully designed to be able to cope with an amount of water, when you look at the route of the rubber intake pipe and then the bowl at the bottom of the airbox which has a hole in it to allow water to run out.
You don't have to go through that deep water to splash it over the airbox and a cone filter would just allow it to get sucked through if it got a soaking.
So just be careful when offroading with one!
If you were going to go out and buy one new, maybe the money would be better put towards a snorkel?

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

First thing my brother does to his cars is fit a cone filter. He reckons they go miles faster, I reckon they make too much noise.
I've driven a couple, they have no bottom end at all, and I can't get them to pull away without boy racer revs and clutch slipping. ( Golf GTI and some 5 cylinder fiat saloon with a funny name)
If you do fit one, keep all the original filter and fittings, if I came to buy the car my first question would be: "Do you have the original air filter?"

I would not use the type of filter you are talking about because they do not filter as much grit out of the air as a standard paper filter. Because they don't filter out as many particles they can suck more air in to give slight power gains but at the risk of premature engine failure due to abrasive particles not being filtered out of the intake.
