and the spare wheels neither use nor ornament, so built on a budget, tightarse. Its naff, useless off road as the tyres are so wide, look silly on the school run wouldnt it...

Off-road I find the Jimny far more comfortable and rewarding to drive too. It makes a Landy feel like a bus.

I've never liked driving them, and they seem even worse after having the Jimny. Not a modified one, but then neither is my Jimny.MysticRich wrote:

I wonder how many of you have actually driven a defender !!
Yes their not without their issues but they are pretty capable and no worse to drive that a modified jimny.

I still like it! Do see everyone's points though- not buying it lol
I've never actually driven one, just love the look of them and have always fancied one.

Just too heavy IMO , had a couple, and a few TD5 discoveries , had a couple of moments where the weight of them caused them to slide off the track on a side slope I'd never even noticed in a Jimny .
That said they are great for towing... Wife still managed to roll my last TD5 discovery on the motorway while towing the caravan though... Wrote them both off... Caravan was only 6 months old lol

My dad had a series 2 lwb that I used to drive
You always pulled away in second as first was too low for the road and the steering was that slow that I nearly wiped out a bus shelter trying to take the lock off after coming out of a side road
