I have both and yes the defender is loud and not great on fuel and leaks, lots of leaks,but it is way more stable and planted to drive and ok on the whole the jimny is better in town and is quiet enough to think in, at least the defender doesn't need it's steering rebuilding every time it's Tuesday.

I got 86mph our of mine by the GPS on the motorway end of last year...never again with tyres at 15 psi and no ARB....
