Pressure Washing was created by Dyl
I'm not the best at cleaning my Jimny after off roading, simply because I don't have a pressure washer at home and it becomes a hassle driving to a garage. It worries me leaving all that mud and crap underneath the Jimny though for long periods of time so I think I should look at purchasing one for home.

Any tips on what I should look for with one?

I was thinking Karcher as I thought they were good quality.

What about something small like THIS

I always go and jet wash it at a local fuel station. I have my own pressure washer but where I live it's a hassle getting it out and using it without interruptions, plus all the shit that is left behind looks horrendous - it doesn't go down well with swmbo either lol.

So using a fuel station for me is much less stress. The more you do it you get quicker at it and it doesn't cost that much.

Karcher are OK and you should be able to get bits for them.
I have a KEW Hobby 2000 i was given as it was 'broken' (just a blocked nozzzle). It's old and simple but always works and has enough power.
Nilfisk Alto, Kranzle and Erhle are all good brands too and still worth buying second hand.
Avoid cheap un-branded ones as if they break you will never be able to repair them.
Don't just go for the one advertising the highest pressure- flow rate is equally important. e.g. 10 L/min at 100 bar will do a lot more mud shifting than 6 L/min at 120 bar!

As an example, this Nilfisk Alto is the same price as the Halfords Karcher but is 110bar and 7.3 L/min rather than 80 bar and 6 L/min.

I use a pressure washer but you need to be careful in its use:

1. Do not pressure wash the swivel seals, you can force dirt/water into the swivel joints
2. Do not pressure wash the tyre beads, you can force dirt/water into the tyres.

How do I know? Been there, done that and got the tee-shirt!

I have a Nilfisk bought online from cleanstore.co.uk. I originally purchased from "world of power" but the item was faulty on delivery and they wanted me to return it to Nilfisk for repair rather than them replace it. I refused as I do not believe a new item should be returned for repair but they refused, therefore I used the distance selling regs to return it and buy a new one from elsewhere..

I got a £50 Homebase and it has paid for itself.

To add to Martins list, avoid getting to close to the rad as you could damage the fins. But make sure you get at all the body mounts, under the sills and if possible under the boot floor/above the fuel tank. Then that it for a drive to blow dry it off.
