You should do well across the moors with CB.
We usually use these when laning as not everyone has CBs:
You can also re program them and "encrypt" the frequency so no one can evesdrop, works well in a convoy and only £15 ish plus there mobile so handy if you need to scout a lane on foot.

internet mobile phones etc I would think have killed them off
we use to run them when out skidding back in the day skyline with a mag mount best mod ever
