Damn hose

Yes a damn hose. It is on a steel pipe and I can't get it off. Only room to get one hand in! It has welded itself to the pipe and I don't want to just cut it off cos then, as well as having to buy a new hose, I have to remove the hose from the other end which is even harder to get to.

What works on hose removal, obviously can't use a gas torch. Nightmare.

Pliers, grab and twist.

is there room to tease it off with a screwdriver/ allen key? if not what about bending a welding rod or the like to work around it like a pick.

It might work if I can get a steel rod through the side but I'll have to see if there is room. I can barely get my hand in there. Normally I'd have inserted something like a rod or even a knife blade from the kitchen. If I hadn't been covered in underseal I'd have grabbed my camera for a piccy. I'll have it handy when I try again but the weather is awful today.

It is where the fuel filler pipe meets the fuel tank and there is a short (approx 8") of rubber hose joining the two. The tank is a few inches from the chassis and the pipe goes through a hole in the metalwork.

Like it but pliers are hard to hold plus it is a big hose so I would need giant pliers but you have made me think in terms of a chain wrench or strap; those will exert a crush on the pipe which may or may not be bad but might wreck the hose too.

I have some adjustable jaw type pliers/ grips. Light pressure on the rubber pipe and trying to turn the house back and forth usually breaks the stiction. That lot looks real rusty though?

It's a Shogun Pinin and that rust is only the start. :ohmy: I dunno if I have anything other than stilsons but I am thinking. Seeing if the weather improves and I'll have a go again.
