Another sunny day in Paradise

45 degrees Celsius and the rest of the week predicted to be over 41... Summer has arrived at last. Rear roof off the Jimny, front one left on to stop me 'ead being baked

A nice 26 k's drive for me to the quarry where I work, takes 15 mins along the Pen Link from Frankston to the hills at Balnarring. I can see both Port Philip Bay and Westernport Bay from the quarry and Bass Straight is about 10 k's away. Kangaroos and Wallabies come up in the morning to drink from one of the dams and we have a resident Koala in the tree next to the smoko hut.

It's a hard life but somebody has to lead it

Like most businesses here in Oz, the company provides Icy Poles and Isotonic Drinks free of charge when the weather gets above 35 Celsius. Gotta keep the liquids up ya know

dunno how you manage to do anything in that heat, id be curled up in the corner in a pool of sweat covered in ice pole wrappers!!!

Lol :woohoo: You'd just be a puddle then today. Overnight minimum temp was 30 C, then it rose to 43 by lunch time but... in the "Hole" which is the clay pit we are bulking out at the moment, it got to 52 degrees Celsius by 1pm. I can tell you, that is quite warm. We've had a few bushfires near us yesterday and today, lots of thunderstorms and lightning strikes so plenty of smoke haze. Over between Melbourne and Geelong, at Little River (LRB was named after it), they had a few hundred hectares go up in grassfires. Probably going to be another bad year for the bushfires 'cause there is such a big fuel load. :S

I'm going bush this weekend in the Jimny, up to Avenal and probably Benalla to see my brother and some mates, do a bit of fishing whilst I am out in the scrub. I've got a removable spark arrestor that I shove up the exhaust when I go off-road in summer (Ok, technically it is called fibreglass fly screen but it does the job) :whistle:

The earth movers you are in will have air conditioning though, right? So it will only be an issue if you are out side?
