What do you think? I am in two minds part of me wants them to put up or shut up but equally I'm not sure it would be beneficial for either us or them. It is by far and away my favourite holiday location and the people who I have met have been lovely but there again there's a sort of ingrained resentment of the English in some areas not particularly hostile but it is there. If they do leave I wish them well but I'm notcconvinced it will work.

Despite all the noise coming from the SNP don't believe every Scot loves Alex Salmond!
I'm a Scot and he is not well liked.
I believe the quiet majority will come out and vote no.
The coming months will prove interesting.

Under the new rules as a foreign country Scottish people living here will no longer be able to claim housing or unemployment benefits.
Can Scotland really manage as an independent country? they are already talking about currency agreements with the BoE and Spain will fight to keep them out of the EU to avoid Catalonia getting excitable. If it does happen then I think we should bring our nuclear subs back and stop all shipbuilding in Scotland there should also be no subsidies or financial support.

A lot depends on whether we are still in the EU or not. If both countries still are then all benefit rules still apply also don't forget Scots will still hold a UK passport and no one can take that away under international law so yes they would still be entitled to benefits under whatever rules apply at the time if living in the rUK.
Of course some may decide to take out dual nationality or go for a Scottish passport?
I expect some sort of transitional agreement will come in by where people are already on pensions etc. will still continue to be paid but after a set period new applicants would have to rely on Scottish welfare??
This is the problem it won't be easy to untangle ourselves as we have shared most things for 300yrs so it will take years to sort it out.
It's the same with the EU. If we decide to leave the rules allow for 2 yrs of mutual negotiations before actually leaving so nothing will happen overnight.

One wonders what will happen to the snp if they get a no out of the referendum? It's not then like they've got the support of the masses.

the bit about not claiming benefits etc doesn't matter much and will do them a big favour as they now be welcome here with open arms and given a big house and more money than an English person
