Shima - Black Jimny Build

We're out Sunday... Just Brett, Phil and me (and Alan)... Gary and Colin are busy, and PhilT is rebuilding a new Jimny!
Oooo! A Blog to read in the next day or do then!
I'm hoping to be out Laning this week for once. Nowhere as exciting though - flat old Essex is likely!
I did like the green before mate but it would be a shame to put old cammo like paint on top of good paint! Once it's scratched up a bit from Laning though it will be ripe for a re-paint though eh!
I've thought about doing it to mine but don't want to be a copy cat!

So first task i set myself was to attack the front with the saw ready for the winch to go in.
I cut the front off so it was wide enough for the winch to fit in and did a test fit to make sure everything was ok.

Then i drilled the holes and got that bolted in ready to be wired up.
All wired in and tested working OK so now just to tidy up the cables so they arent just left hanging there

.
Next job was to cut the arches ready for the axles to be swapped over to make clearance for them big tyres and suspension as per Garys guide.

I then fitted the arches which proved difficult aligning them up exactly the same as they were on the green one due to being moulded to the shape of the car. I was going to use the green bumper on the car as a temporary bumper until i got time to make a metal front bumper but decided i'm not going to be making a new one for a while yet so just stuck with the black one and trimmed it (Sorry James i know you were after one)
Final task was to fit the snorkel which again was a fun task with no template. I made my own out of a cornflakes box (Because the brand of cerial makes all the difference) and after a lot of measuring and humming i finally got the b***s to make that first drill. Luckily all went well and it went on perfectly.
Here is how it currently stands. It looks very silly with the little wheels and the big arches but soon enough i will have the axles over and it will hopefully look a bit meaner haha.

I'm meant to be in for an operation next week so not sure i'll be able to do more next weekend but we will see
