Former owner of Little "Ooky", who has now started a new life in Shetland
Evening peeps, Just a quick introduction.
Having had a 1.3 JLX soft top from new back in 2001 that, over a period was lifted, had agressive tyres, A bar / Side steps, custom rear wheel carrier externally and internally, 4 speaker Alpine head unit, 4x lpine 6" speakers in the doors and a custom pod built into the rear door, CB radio plus a whole host of self recovery kit in the back
I have succumb to the urge to own another jimny and, have just purchased another 2001 1.3 JLX, but a hard top this time (rear window clips and frost on the inside wasnt fun).
Currently the car has 205 allows and a DeeJay "A"bar and side bars fitted, but these are to go.
The shopping list is currently as follows..
2" lift
Steel wheels with 50:50 MT tyres
30mm wheel spacers
New Front A Bar and side steps
2x Front fog lights in the bumper
2x 6" spots fitted to the A Bar
Thinking of a roof mounted Light pod with 4x 6" spots (or 2x fog, 2x spot) wired with the front lamps through a separate battery.
Tinted rear windows
Refit Alpine Head unit and 4x speakers
CB Radio
additional inside light
Towbar
(Chrome beizels / Mirror covers and door handles) - shiney stuff a girl likes to add to make her car special !
I have some pictures of the old Jimny showing a clean pair of rear tyres to Rangerovers / Un-modified Defenders and G Wagons, plus pictures of my husband taking it swimming across Salisbury Plain and up to its axels on the ridgeway Ill post too.

That sounds great, and if you are doing Salisbury Plain and the Ridgeway you cannot be too far from me, I am from Reading. Perhaps I will see you at a TV4x4 event.
The software that does this forum does not handle pictures very well. If you have trouble with the pictures then email them over to me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will put them up for you.
And you always have to have a bit of bling, even on the toughest of off-roaders.

re-enforced TX mountings
Bumper mounted spots
Rear towbar
Collect new all terrain Tyres and daihatsu wheels this evening
pop to halfrauds to get window tinting kit
Re-fitted front A Bar with larger 10mm stainless bolts last night. Just need a bracket fabricated to provide extra strength and reduce any movment as its only fixed at the bottom.

Have a think about getting the automatic freewheeling hubs changed to KAP fixed hubs or get the front wheel bearing nuts cut down / Ask KAP for some cut down ones and fit SJ manual freewheeling hubs.
The automatic ones are known to cause problems and you may as well get them at this stage rather than later as you'll be taking it to bits now anyway.
You'll need a wheel bearing removal tool from Dave at Bits4Vits - he has an ebay shop.
Have fun and don't forget those photos when it's done!!!
