New bulletin just out - Q-A6G-008

This replaces bulletin Q-A6G-004

It is described as being "ADDITIONAL MEASURES TO Q-A6G-004" which implies that it further improves on Q-A6G-004 and therefore may improve vehicles that still have the problem after the original Q-A6G-004 has been carried out.

Key difference is the part number for the transfer chain has changed, implying that they have changed the chain again.

As the older Jimnys are now 3 years old be aware that your warranty is expiring

I also note that there is an update to the Bosch SDLA entertainment unit which fixes a bug where after the unit is turned off with a USB device connected it may continually reboot on the next power on and also a fixed for a French language translation issue.

JUST TO UPDATE AND MAKE CLEAR: THIS IS NOT RECALL - it is a repair on report only. You have to have the fault on your vehicle, it has to be diagnosed by the dealer and then you  put it in for repair which will be under warranty if your car is within the warranty period.

I get the chain harmonic noise in 1st and 2nd gear after having the original chain replaced.

I hope my dealer will try this on my TC.

Thanks for the information Martin.

Ours is on 10,500 miles and the transmission has been silent.
However it's only been driven on road and we've not used the 4wd or low range (except to test it) don't know if that makes any difference.

The dealer changed the transmission oils at the first service when it had only done about 3,000 miles because they said it was a "good idea"

l assume they used Suzuki specification oil as it's a Suzuki dealer.

Both of ours are sub 5000 miles. One had the original mod done, the other is still as per factory. Both are on road only (apart from a few 100 metres when we got the original one.

Both make the noise all the time

My December 2019 Jimny made the transfer case noise but the issue was cured by the original chain modification, so I'm happy.

How can you abuse the poor Jimny's like that.

I'm at 23000 miles and not noticed the noise, does the issue affect autos as well as manuals?
