Needed some essential shopping - so left the house in a flurry of snow. The Jimny has been slumbering under a blanket of snow and frost for a few days - but it took very little effort to get the snow off the roof/bonnet/windows and fire it up. Now at 19,000 miles the stock tyres are fairly worn but I was still pleasantly surprised when I selected 4WD and headed down the driveway to the main road. Have to say I was also surprised at the capability of the Jimny on a steep hill where the Council gritter hadn't treated the road surface. Overall a happy chappy with the Jimny in the snow - but reminded of the lack of a replacement model next year when I would normally recycle it at 3 years old. How are other forum members coping with the snow?

Very aware of the dangers of 'winding up the axles' by running in 4WD on tarmac - but how sensitive or fragile is the Jimny?

I did note that the Jimny slides in and out of 4WD very easily using the lever - although Something in my brain wanted me to use the clutch whilst moving the lever - totally not needed.

As someone who bought a Jimny new way back when it was easy to get another new one I would recommend not doing and keeping the one you have. I'm now at 10 years ownership and 110000 miles and it is honestly the best car I have ever had.

Temeraire (2018 quasar grey automatic)
One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.
Bellerophon (2024 grello van daily
ADOS Attention Deficit Ooooh Shiny!

Living in the north of Italy, I'm fairly used to drive in the snow with one car or another (a couple of times I've even been caught out in my elises!).

The jimny is behaving quite well, as expected, if not for the stock tyres, which feel quite lethal even in the wet.
I quite enjoy flicking to 4wd on the go if the need arises (always using the clutch for peace of mind)...it always adds up to the "adventurous" experience

So far it's been unstoppable in the snow. I quite like snow driving and last year could not make it across a Scottish pass, but that was on summer tyre's. So for this year I have Yoko's which are snow and ice rated, with these snow is like driving on tarmac. Here is the ice / snow covered road and the hill no one would go up.

Taken from my dash cam.
Ok this is a G3, but the G4 should be even better with the electronic gizmos.

We have had more snow in North Yorkshire over the last month than we have had for ages. Was out today in snow and ice. The new Hankook tyres and the Jimny have performed brilliant, I feel more at ease than I did in my Defender. The light weight and the grippy tyres makes for a unstoppable driving.
