On the Defender, fitting an RTC steering damper to a standard vehicle improves steering feel, makes it more positive in the straight ahead position. and improves the self centering.

l wondered if you can get one of these for the Gen 4 Jimny, and if it might improve it for road use.
lt looks like you can buy them
for the earlier Jimny, and it gets rave reviews on Jimnybits.

Tough Dog sell an RTC for the current model. Others probably available also.

if everything is correct and in working order then a Jimny shouldn't need an rtc steering damper as the standard steering is sufficiently light and well balanced. On the 3 actually having a damper makes the vehicle nicer as it didn't come with one but the 4 does. The exception is if you are running oversized tyres that are placing everything under more stress, then the rtc is useful to remove the feeling of the extra weight in the steering.

You realise that the Gen4 has a steering damper as standard, although not an RTC one?

In what way is the RTC damper different to the standard? Only asking as I have not heard of them before.
