bluejimny wrote: well, still work in progress, unfortunately im flat out all the time as we are still building the workshop ready for winter as we need to try and keep a small amount of the workshop warm for the machines and also to keep us warm!

and ive been so busy with just running the shop i dont get much time to "get on the tools" no more, and its had to be put on the back burner for a while, as we needed to get other lines out, battery tray, winch bumper, SJ conversion kit etc etc as there is going to be more demand for these

BUT all is not lost, we have just bought a new machine that can help make them much much more quickly than we planned, so when the final design is done they should be quite quick to make

downsides, ive lots of other parts to make on it first, our parts and also other 4x4 supplier parts, then ill get round to them, probably early next year now

i underestimated how much time and effort it takes to move into a new unit, it feels like its taking forever!

Rus

It's nearly next year now!!!!!!!!!!

Just thought I'd mention it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. It's categorically early next year now!

Well it's obviously this year but it's last years next year now!

No mate, I suspect I will be going with the RS ones..........just making sure there are still no alternatives to consider before I spend the money. ;)

The Rs ones look like a great bit of kit and are probably the best as you have to put the side gears from a rear diff on the front diff to strengthen it up, so you strengthen the next weakest link in the drive train. They are made from super strong material also.

BUT this is a pain and I would like a simple like for like swap. The Jimnybits ones have been tested with a front locker in arduous conditions and have held up fine. I don't plan to have a locker so they are going to have an even easier time in mine. So for me, the Jimnybits ones will be the way forward but they just aren't coming.

I have a spare set of shafts with CVs on at the moment and only go laning now, so I'm unlikely to break a CV, but it is still possible.

So you can see for me why the straight swap Jimnybits ones are easier.

If I were to have an ARB front locker I'd get one with 26 splines and the RS ones will be a straight fit into that. But I'm not, so that's that.

ive shelved these for now as were too busy with general work and manufacturing parts we already sell as well as parts for other companies, we get asked far more for other parts than we do these kits as they are more of a specialist kit for the enthusiast compared to someone who wants to do some light greenlaning now and again

i expect it would be around 2 years before we even look at doing these kits again due to the amount of work load we have, and for 570 ish GBP thats a good price for the kit
