tropy raid preparation for a beginner was created by FIRSTJIMNY
I've been in a couple of small 4x4 competitions but nothing serious. My son and I want to enter something like the Ladoga Trophy Raid held in Russia and/or the Transilvania Adventure Trophy raid held in Romania. Sounds like and adventure that we would enjoy. One of the things we don't have a clue about is preparation for deep water crossings. Been in deep water on occasion but nothing like we seem some of the contestants going through in these particular events. Is there any special preparation that can be done for helping to water proof the electrics and such?

You need a snorkel and longer tubing for the axles and gearbox breathers.

I'm not sure about all the electrics, if anything to be done os needed at all.

Thanks for the help. Is there a kit for sale for the axles, gearbox upgrade? If so, who has it? Thanks again.

What about fitting an electric fan switched from inside. If you can switch it off for water crossings it wont suck water through the rad and spray it all over the engine.

Investigate relocating the critical electrical components, ECU on the roof(inside of course), fuse box higher etc....

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!
