Winter Prep !! Whats everyone doing ?? was created by Fearghal Murphy
Snow could be on the way soon in Ireland, at least in the mountain regions first ! My Jimny is currently on Maxxis M+S tyres, standard lift, geometry etc... i have a new tow strap en route, and i got a few new shackles, very cheap amber warning strobes, rear work light, ratchet straps, old shovel, antifreeze etc....... I was just curious if anyone on here was preparing with different equipment or has any mad ideas or innovations ! Mad ideas appreciated !!

Hi mate, I cant wait for the white stuff to start falling, my jimny was ace last year I helped a few people out who was stuck. To be honest all I have is a long towing strop shackles and a shovel which I'm going to mount on my spare wheel some how. I'v also got a 6k winch to get mounted in the standard bumper which might come in handy. you wont be getting stuck in the snow at all I tried to but couldn't. let me know if you come up with any good ideas.

thanks

james

I've flushed and drained the engine.
Removed the prop.
Removed the battery
Grease the wheel bearings
Disconnected the brakes
Dropped the pressure in the drive rams
Emptied the cubby storage......

....oh wait, wrong toy!

haha @ Martin, i was wondering haha !! Ye guys i aint concerned really just would defo like to know if anyone has heard of mad stuff that ends up being very usefull haha !! Cheers James and Supergaz, i think the strobes should be very handy for when i am pulled in during the snow, im gona mount up on the back nice n high to give good visibility ! My new strap, shackles and sticker shud be arriving soon, so i shall post some pics including the strobes !! Worklight on the back is already proving a winner too !

Ive got some glow in the dark paint for my shackels but some how i think it will get scratched off haha !!

Strap is luminous green so shud be easy to find in snow !!

Cant wait for the white stuff to arrive !!

Wearing my thermals! Going to shove a sleeping bag and hot water, food ect in my works van for when I get stuck. The food wont last 5 minutes as i'm always hungry!
And will fill my jerry cans with diesel, so when I do end up stuck on the motorway for the night, I ain't going cold!. Fuel Card = Life saver!. Will also try to keep my fuel topped up, but i'm lucky if a full £120 tank lasts me 2 days.

And don't forget the sledge! I'm 28 and keep all sorts of toys in my van! :silly: :silly:

I topped up the washer fluid
put a warm coat in the back
bought a new window squeegie thing to wipe the condensation off the inside.

That'll do around town.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

I'm going to go pick up a bulk ton bag of rock salt, Then wait till it runs out, then sell it off!
I am planning on buying bulk, bagging it, then a mate will be selling it on the industrial estate where he has a unit. Just an idea for you guys if you have the means. I have my own jimny transporter trailer now, so this will be making me money instead of costing me. :-)

Fresh high concentration oh anti freeze and make sure everything else is in good working order is my plan. The Jimny won't be getting stuck and if I can't use my daily car ill be in the Jimny so not much to worry about really!
